Unless you’ve been in seclusion in a Klingon monastery or off on a science expedition in the Gamma Quadrant for the past year, you know that 2009 was a pretty big year for Star Trek. The new film, directed by J.J. Abrams and starring Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto in the iconic Kirk and Spock roles, not only exceeded expectations at the box office, but also impressed critics (something the last few Trek films since Star Trek: First Contact failed miserably to do), satisfied MOST die-hard fans (someone SOMEWHERE didn’t like it because it changed things-that’s just the way it goes with Trekkies/Trekkers), and, perhaps most impressively, thrilled and entertained non-Trek audience members who prior to watching the film wouldn’t have known a Romulan from a garden gnome. It was this year’s Iron Man
, and this week it finally arrived on DVD and blu-ray, just in time for the holiday shopping season. (And NO, I haven’t picked one up for myself yet, thank you very much. It’s that time of year when I stop buying for myself and save any gift shopping money that might come my way for other people’s gifts, all the while HOPING someone ELSE will pick up stuff like this for me!)
Clicking on the images above will take you to the Amazon.com listings for the three different home video options available for Trek through Amazon: blu-ray, Two-Disc DVD/Digital Copy Edition
, and Single-Disc DVD Edition
, respectively. BUT wait, that’s not all! If the Trek lover in your life can’t wait past this week to snatch up a copy of the movie for themselves, and you’re left looking for a Trek-themed gift, check out what Entertainment Earth has for you!
