PTG Episode 132 is brought to you by San Diego Comic-Con. Yes, THE geek event of the year starts this Wednesday night out in lovely San Diego, and once again PTG … will NOT be there. :: sigh :: BUT we do hope to have volunteer correspondents on the phone from Comic-Con on this upcoming week’s live webcast of PTG, so be sure and tune in Saturday night as we do our best to bring you highlights of the colossal event. In the meantime, as the headlines begin to stream forth from the San Diego Convention Center, head over to the PTG Facebook Fan Page to stay caught up on all the news and announcements. Every year there are a few bombshells that the studios and comic book publishers drop, and we’re going to make every effort to not miss any of them!
In Episode 132 we hit on the major comic book movie reveal of the week, the image on the cover of Entertainment Weekly featuring Ryan Reynolds for the first time as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern. The image has generated a tremendous amount of debate throughout the geek realm, and the reviews have been mixed at best. No doubt more images are forthcoming, especially during this week of Comic-Con Craziness, but it’s hard to ignore the fact that when Marvel Studios leaked the costume concept art for Thor and Captain America a month ago, the buzz was considerably more positive, in particular for Captain America. Green Lantern is DC’s sole superhero property with a movie currently shooting and a release date in sight–with Superman in development and the next Batman on the back-burner, it’s our opinion that they simply cannot afford to whiff on Green Lantern. Note to the Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment marketing people: the fact that we’re all talking about how odd the movie GL uniform looks, rather than being excited and energized for more news and images, should be considered “Strike one!”
Also in this episode we bring you reviews of TWO movies released over the past two weeks, Predators, the latest entry in the Predator franchise of films, this time brought to us by producer Robert Rodriguez and starring a buffed-up Adrien Brody; and Inception, the new VERY-cerebral, very well-crafted heist flick from writer/director Christopher Nolan (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight), starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Ken Watanabe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, Michael Caine, Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy (yeah, Shinzon in Star Trek – Nemesis, THAT Tom Hardy!), and more. Enjoy!

It’s about time they make a Green Lantern movie. Do you think they will make a video game too?

Count on it — the marketing machine for the movie will demand it. Better question is will the game be GOOD, or will it follow the pattern of most movies adapted into games (rushed through production, ill-conceived, ultimately not very good)?
