PTG Episode 52 is brought to you by beer, and lots of it. Certainly the beer that the guys at A Comic Shop in Winter Park, Florida were handing out (to those with proper ID, of course) aided in creating the oh-so-festive atmosphere that filled the otherwise-humid air last Saturday night. But to say that it was JUST the beer would be to do an incredible disservice to the hard-working staff of Orlando’s “Best Comic Book Store 2007/2008/2009″ (Orlando Weekly). Once again, I have to say “thank you” to Jason Blanchard, Aaron Haaland, and the rest of the crew at A Comic Shop for inviting PTG to broadcast the show live at their store and be a part of the birthday festivities. It was a great night: saw a lot of familiar faces and met some new people, too, who I hope will be checking out the show in the coming days. If you’re reading this and last Saturday night was your first experience with Prime Time Geek, thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the podcast!
This episode features A Comic Shop co-owner Aaron Haaland sitting in with us to talk up his “Shop of Ideas”, but he really just warms the chair for their special guest of the evening, Marvel Comics and Vertigo writer Jason Aaron (Scalped, Wolverine: Weapon X, Ghost Rider, Punisher MAX). Jason sits with EricathePimp and I for a spell to talk about the stories he’s told so far, the impact writing the big titles for Marvel has had on his independent work, and his plans for ol’ Frank Castle. Also in this episode, we review “9″, the new animated fantasy produced by Tim Burton that debuted in theaters last weekend, and we wrap up the show with Top Comic Picks for the week of 9/12/09, including the conclusion of Matt Fraction’s epic crossover event for Marvel, Dark Avengers/Uncanny X-Men: Exodus.
