PTG Episode 62 is brought to you by Hero Complex, the absolute must-read pop culture geek blog written by LA Times Entertainment writer Geoff Boucher. It certainly isn’t the first time here on PTG that I’ve taken time to heap praise and adoration upon Boucher and his work on this blog, but recently he composed a series of articles looking at four major film franchises near and dear to the hearts of geeks everywhere, each looking to add a fourth installment to their respective series. We spend a good part of this hour talking about the franchises Boucher examines–The Lord of the Rings, Spider-Man, X-Men, and Pirates of the Caribbean trilogies–and give our own takes on whether or not another installment is warranted or even welcome. It was a very lively discussion and a fun segment, and we have Geoff to thank for it, so Geoff, if you do happen to see this or listen to the podcast, thanks for the discussion fodder, and as always thank you for your passion and devotion to geekdom. The fact that you do what you do for such a recognizable media outlet such as the L.A. Times is truly inspirational.
Also in this hour, we bring you our latest installment of FLASH! TV reviews, featuring recaps of last week’s Heroes and Fringe episodes, a special PTG Top Comic Picks featuring nothing but Batman-related titles, as a number of them hit comic book shop shelves last week and each was worth your attention, and EricathePimp returns to the realm of novels she actually ENJOYS reading and reviewing by talking up Neil Gaiman’s Stardust. Hope you enjoy!
