PTG Episode 64 is brought to you by November Sweeps. Yes, we’re almost to the time when the major TV networks put their best shows forward for consideration, and if you’re a Dollhouse fan you probably already know that FOX, in typical form when it comes to Joss Whedon-created television shows, has made it clear just how much faith they have in Dollhouse’s ability to draw viewers during the critical Nielsen rating period … by pulling the show entirely and replacing it, starting today, with reruns of the new season of House. Ah, FOX. Ya know, we genre TV fans wouldn’t harp on it so much if you weren’t so darned consistent. So, we here at Prime Time Geek will be taking a break from reviewing Dollhouse until it returns on Friday, December 4th, but our “Flash TV Reviews” segment will march on with reviews of shows that are hanging around for sweeps, including Heroes, FlashForward, and V, once it gets started on ABC in November.
In Episode 64 we spend some time lamenting FOX’s decision to shelve Dollhouse during this upcoming sweeps period, as well as talking about other ways the broadcast networks and cable networks find ways to either kill shows or keep them alive. The “Flash TV Reviews” segment spotlights Dollhouse and the latest episode of Heroes, entitled “Tabula Rasa”, and “PTG Top Comic Picks” brings you reviews of three Marvel Comics Avengers-related titles: Mighty Avengers #30 by Dan Slott, Christos Gage, and Sean Chen; Dark Avengers #10 by Brian Michael Bendis and Mike Deodato; and Invincible Iron Man #19 by Matt Fraction and Salvador Larroca. Plus, don’t miss this week’s upcoming live broadcast this Saturday at 8PM–yes, we will be broadcasting on Halloween, so before you head out in costume and face all the would-be ghouls and goblins out there, come geek out with us. After all, we’ll be done by 10PM–plenty of time before things REALLY get interesting out there.
