Repairability is usually covered as a political story: legislation, lobbying, hearings. That coverage matters, but it skips the part a buyer can use. Whether a device can be repaired is not an opinion. It is a list of engineering decisions: how the battery is fixed, what screws hold the case, whether parts and manuals are sold, and for how long.
Those decisions are readable before purchase, which makes them specifications in every practical sense. A sealed battery is a specification. So is a soldered port and a parts programme that ends in three years. They determine how long the device stays useful and who captures the value when it stops.
That is why repairability is scored on this site as a review axis, alongside pricing honesty and exit cost. It is not a moral badge. It is arithmetic: the total cost of owning a thing includes the cost of keeping it alive.
