A community that moves twice does not arrive anywhere
The Loomfield forum's second platform migration in a year is the point at which the archive, not the members, becomes the thing at risk.
Loomfield is moving hosts for the second time in twelve months. Each move has been justified by cost. Each has left part of the archive behind.
Communities survive their members leaving. They rarely survive losing the searchable record of why decisions were made, because that record is the only reason a newcomer's question gets answered instead of re-litigated. Two lossy migrations in a year does more damage than a year of low posting volume.
This is my reading, not a report: the useful metric for a community platform is not monthly actives, it is whether a five-year-old thread still resolves at its original address. On that measure Loomfield has already had the outage.
