Harbourline ships the H2 dock with a soldered power stage
The accessory maker's second-generation dock is cheaper and thinner, and the part most likely to fail can no longer be replaced.
Harbourline began shipping the H2 dock this week. The unit is thinner than the H1 and sits lower in the range. The company describes the change as a simplification of the internal layout.
In this scenario the practical difference is that the power stage, a socketed module on the H1, is soldered to the mainboard on the H2. Harbourline's published repair documentation lists board-level replacement as the only remedy. The company has not said whether board swaps are covered outside the warranty period, and did not respond to that question before publication.
