PTG Episode 129 is brought to you by the Talk Nerdy Show Independence Weekend BBQ, hosted by Heroes Landing, on Friday, July 2nd starting at 2pm. We have Ryan and Mark from TNS on for another hour during this episode and we lead off with all the details you’ll need to come out tomorrow and enjoy BBQ grilled up by Ryan himself. I’ll be there, though probably not as early as I indicated I’d be during the broadcast, due to the fact that The Last Airbender opens in theaters tomorrow and I’ll be reviewing it for this weekend’s show. But I WILL be there, along with “The Man” and “The Dobbs” from Slacker and the Man and lots more people throughout the day, I’m sure. Bring meat to grill, in case Ryan runs out–yup, it’s a BYOM BBQ.

One of the benefits of posting on Thursdays is that if something BIG happens on new comics day (Wednesday) during the week, we can comment on it right away. Well, in case you haven’t been online the last few days, you probably know our favorite Amazon Princess, Wonder Woman, made the mainstream news via the New York Times Wednesday morning, and she’s the talk of the geek realms thanks to her new “modern” look designed by DC Comics co-publisher Jim Lee and debuting in Wonder Woman #600. Here’s a look in case you haven’t seen the now-ubiquitous design sketch:

Personally, I think this outfit makes her look like an unlockable character in a Capcom fighting game, not a superhero, but we’re looking for your opinions: Head over to our message board and let us know what you think in our latest poll. Oh, and you can expect me to have a LOT more to say about this on this weekend’s show. It might just be time to brush the dust off the “Felix is Fuming” sounder for this one …

Also in this episode, we bring you our first set of reviews of Leverage, the weekly heist drama on TNT featuring Timothy Hutton amidst a truly talented ensemble cast that has developed an irresistible chemistry over two seasons. “The Jailhouse Job” and “The Reunion Job” were the first episodes of Leverage I’d ever seen, and I can say in all honesty that I dug the show from the opening minutes, and I think you will, too, if you enjoy movies like Ocean’s Eleven and Mission Impossible. The scripts are clever, the characters are cool … it’s just fun all around. Equally fun, though for different reasons, is Burn Notice on USA, and we bring you reviews of two more new Season 4 episodes, “Made Men” and “Breach of Faith.” We wrap the hour with two reviews of independent comics: Kevin Smith’s Green Hornet #5 (Smith, Lau) from Dynamite Entertainment and Sea Bear/Grizzly Shark (Jason Howard, Ryan Ottley) from Image Comics. Enjoy!
